Porcelain Veneers NY

Porcelain veneers are a fast, easy and permanent solution for achieving a beautiful, healthy, and well-proportioned smile. Porcelain veneers, also called porcelain laminates, are ideal for teeth that have spaces or those that are crooked, chipped, misshapen, or discolored. Porcelain veneers can be used to replace tooth structure lost from grinding or over aggressive brushing. In some cases, porcelain laminates can be used as a faster alternative to time consuming orthodontic treatments.

SmilesNY offers porcelain veneers in Manhattan. The treatment can be conveniently performed in our New York City dental practice by leading New York dentists, D.D.S., Steven E. Roth D.M.D., Timonthy Chase, D.M.D., and Kenneth Jackier D.M.D.

What are Porcelain Veneers?

Porcelain veneers are laboratory made porcelain facings that are bonded onto the front surfaces of front teeth.  Though they are very thin – approximately 0.3-0.5 mm in thickness – porcelain veneers are highly durable. They are an excellent way to mask dental imperfections like broken, chipped, misaligned, or stained teeth.

What are the benefits of Porcelain Veneers?

Porcelain veneers are a great way to straighten, close spaces, reshape, and correct minor misalignments of your teeth. Unlike resin veneers, which have the tendency to get darker over time, porcelain veneers are resistant to stains from coffee, tea, or cigarette smoking. Since porcelain veneers are lab made to fit precisely over your natural teeth, they result in a natural looking appearance and a comfortable fit.

Porcelain veneers also:

  • Preserve the natural tooth structure
  • Mask discoloration resulting from childhood antibiotics
  • Repair fractured or chipped teeth
  • Cover gaps between the teeth
  • Correct misaligned or crooked teeth
  • Last longer than bleaching or bonding
  • Resist staining and chipping
  • Have a long life expectancy
How long do Porcelain Veneers last?

Generally, veneers will last for many years. With proper care and good dental hygiene, porcelain veneers should last 10 to 15 years or more.

What is the process for getting Porcelain Veneers?

The process for getting porcelain veneers is completed in stages. During your first appointment, your natural teeth are contoured and a precise impression is taken. This impression is then used as a mold to create your porcelain veneers to the precise size and shape of your teeth.

At SmilesNY, our goal is to make sure you are happy and confident with your new, beautiful smile. In order to do this, we make provisional restorations that are the size, shape, and color of your future porcelain veneers. These provisional restorations enable you to experience your future veneers before they are permanently bonded, allowing you to preview your new smile and virtually eliminating the need to make any changes to the permanent veneers once they are in place.  During a subsequent appointment, your permanent veneers are bonded onto the teeth. The process usually requires a minimum of two appointments.

Porcelain veneers require very little of the original tooth structure to be taken away, so the procedure can be performed using little to no anesthesia. For some patients, it is recommended that a whitening system, such as the ZOOM!® Whitening System, be used in conjunction with porcelain veneers to produce the best possible aesthetic outcome.
