Medical Conditions May Be Detected During Dental Visits.

In an article in the Huffington Post (3/29) “The Blog,” a dentist stated regular dental visits “are much more important than you probably realize,” since dentists look inside mouths for more than just dental caries. The dentist provided a list of some of the medical conditions that may be detected during a dental exam, such as acromegaly, osteogenesis imperfecta, HIV/AIDS, Crohn’s disease, and sleep apnea. The dentist concluded, “Like your primary care doctor, your dentist is an invaluable part of your personal health care.”
