Evidence Insufficient To Prove Association Between Gum Disease, Cognition In Seniors, Review Says.

Reuters (4/1, Seaman) reported that according to the findings of a 56-study review published online April 1 in the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society, the association between gum disease and cognitive problems in seniors is uncertain.

HealthDay (4/1, Preidt) reported that while some studies did indeed suggest such an association, the review’s authors “emphasized there is not enough evidence to prove a direct link between oral health and thinking…abilities.”
